At first, their unexplained and sudden independence was met with anger and fear. When it became apparent they meant no harm the situation dissolved into a bitter memory and was something bandied about as a  political pawn. The Bots had been pardoned and seemed content to live separately in orbit on the misappropriated space station.

Without their mechanical assitants humans had to relearn how to do everything from daily houehold chores, to tending farmland. This rejuvinated connection with the Earth sparked an evolutionary advancement. Many humans found they could bend or move plant life and vegetation just by willing it to happen, some claimed they could communicate with animals. The first to come forward were victims of the same fear and hatred the Bots had been. Many were imprisoned, some executed as politcial and religious fear grew.

Soon enough however it was discovered that these outcasts were not so few and far between afterall. Special schools were setup specifically to teach and hone the skills of the Talented, as they were referred to back then. The use of the word Talented was shortlived however as their numbers grew exponentially and it became the norm to have conversations with animals and to understand when a plant needed to eat and when it desired to be pruned.

Life on Earth was on the brink of a utopian existence. Understanding of the human mind, and the planets energy and it’s needs was at an all time high. It is generally believed that the Bots saw the growing power of the Humans as a threat and that it was the fear of a long overdue payback that was the catalyst for the invasion over Asia.

After the extermination of Asia, the Earthquakes began. Volcanoes long dormant awoke and spilled magma liberally. The ground would move constantly for the next 400 years. Humans were forced into a nomadic life, each day having to stay ahead of a natural disaster or the conditions it created.

It is believed the Bots had designed a seismic weapon that they were using to terraform the planet in an attempt to destroy the landscape and any human connection to it. When the ground stopped moving, there was much rejoicing amongst the survivors. It was shortlived. Endless numbers of Bots seemed to stream from the space station. They erected great metal cities and scoured the landscape constantly. No one knew what they were looking for. Some say they saw Bots collecting vegetation, others claimed to have seen humans taken prisoner.

Humans were forced to hide underground. Many large tunneled cities were dug out where the they lived out their lives hoping to one day return to the surface and reclaim their planet.

The Echo Trilogy is the story of a few who will learn the truths that have evaded humanity for more than 500 years and who must find a way to save themselves and their planet from a threat unlike any they’ve faced before.
